Westford Health Department
Westford Community Naloxone Program
- Naloxone also called Narcan is a medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. Narcan can reverse an opioid overdose in 3 - 5 mintues. Narcan lasts about 30-90 minutes and blocks opioids from brain receptors. Narcan is not dangerous if admisntered to a person who is not overdosing, and it has no potential for abuse.
- Free Narcan Kits are available at the Westford Health Department Office in Town Hall, 55 Main St.
- Community members interested in obtaining a Narcan kit will review the instructional materials with a member from the Westford Health Department.
