As part of an on-going management program, Keyes Pond and Old Mill/Graniteville Pond, will be treated with USEPA/MA registered aquatic herbicides on Tuesday, July 18th to control areas of non-native, invasive aquatic plant growth. Both of the ponds will be closed to all uses on the day of treatment, including swimming, boating and fishing. Additionally, water from both ponds should not be used for livestock watering until July 19th, for drinking/domestic purposes until July 21st and for irrigation until July 23rd. Signs warning of the temporary water use restrictions will be posted around the ponds’ shorelines prior to treatment.
The work is being performed for the Town of Westford, pursuant to a permit (license) issued by MassDEP, Office of Watershed Management and the Westford Conservation Commission (DEP File # 334-1635).
