The Town Clerk is the custodian of many public records and archives, going back to the early 1700s, including births, deaths and marriages. Certified copies of births and deaths in Massachusetts are generally available in the town and city where the event occurred as well as the resident town. Marriage certificates are the exception, available only in the town and city where intentions were filed.
