Westford Fire Department has been running a Fire Safety Camp once a year for Westford Children in grades 1-5, which is part of the S.A.F.E. (Students Awareness of Fire Education) Program.
The Fire Safety Camp is a one day event where children get to participate in all sorts of fun activities related to fire safety and the Fire Department. The children learn about fire safety, safety in the kitchen and through out the house. They also learn about first aid, learn how to make a 911 phone call (an actually make one as if it were the real thing) and what to tell the dispatcher on the other end, play some games with water and put out a “fire”. They also get to participate in the S.A.F.E. trailer, which simulates smoke detectors going off in a house type atmosphere and they have to find there way out.
The children get Fire Camp T-Shirts and other S.A.F.E. things. They also get lunch and snacks. It is a fun time for all.
For more info on S.A.F.E. Fire Camp, please watch for notices on this web site or in the newspaper or call Fire Headquarters at 978-692-5542 and speak with the Fire Prevention Officer.
