Westford Police - Possible Scam Warning
On Saturday 09/27/08, the Westford Police responded to a report of a larceny from a home on Concord Road-- possibly a Gypsy Scam.

At approximately 1:00pm, suspect #1 knocked on the elderly victim’s door and stated that he was with the Water Department and needed to look at the home owner's pipes because the water was poisoned. After being let into the house, Suspect #1 then told one of the home owners that he (the home owner) needed to wait by the basement door while Suspect #1 went down stairs to check out the pipes. (Suspect #1 was talking on a two way radio and speaking broken english).

Suspect #2 entered the house, ripped the phone line out of the wall, then continued to look through the house. He then walked into the home owner’s bedroom and took cash from a dresser draw. After speaking in broken english, both suspects fled out of the house in an unknown vehicle.

Suspect #1 described as: Olive skinned male, approximately 5'8'', medium build in his twenties or thirties, mustache and not clean shaven, wearing a blue jacket with lettering and blue pants.

Suspect #2 described as: Olive skinned male, approximately 6'0", medium build in his twenties or thirties, not clean shaven, wearing blue jacket and blue pants

These types of scams generally target the elderly and part of their rouse is to ask for change for $100.00 knowing that it is common that elderly keep cash in the home.
